Lenham Bowling Club

About Us

If you think you might be interested in joining us, please phone our Club Secretary, Trevor Green (01622 859642), and he will be delighted to send you further information and arrange a visit.  Alternatively, just pop in at the weekend (when we are playing a home match) and introduce yourself and you will be made most welcome.

We are an active and lively club with members of all ages, representing a cross-section of Lenham’s community as well as having members who live further afield.  We do of course like to encourage playing members but happily provide Social Membership for non-players.  All members may enjoy our clubhouse facilities – an oasis in the village - with licensed bar and social activities.

We play friendly matches (both home and away) against other Kent clubs on most weekends during the season and sometimes midweek as well (see the fixtures pages) and we have a number of Club bowling days.

In addition to entering Club teams into national and county competitions, we have a team entered in the Weald League (mixed triples) and the men’s section also run three teams in the Maidstone Triples League.

Grey trousers/skirt and a white shirt/blouse while you are learning. White trousers/skirt and a Club shirt once you start playing matches. Flat soled shoes are essential, both to preserve the turf and prevent our hard-working greenkeeping staff from tearing their hair out!

After the summer outdoor season has finished we also have facilities for indoor Short Mat Bowls (friendly matches only - no leagues).

If you are beginner considering joining the Club but perhaps put off because you think the equipment might be expensive and you are not quite sure how to play, don’t hold back. We have several sets of bowls for general use, so you can come and give it a try. There are usually members on hand to show you the ropes.

If you decide it’s just what you were looking for – pleasant people, lovely surroundings, useful exercise and a bit of social life - your initial outlay will not be great and you probably have some items in your wardrobe already.
